Tactal Hots Music is the home of artists Desyfer & Fletch. THM will showcase material recorded under Desyfer & Fletch’s other pseudonyms ‘Phoenix’ & ‘Sundogs’.
A little bit about Phoenix: Phoenix was originally set up by myself and my late friend Scott Latham and in 1995 we set about to write a track for DJ Sasha. We came up with the ‘Phoenix – Rise Up E.P.’ which was released on Solid Silver Recordings (SIL006). Sasha was given the only copy mid-way through ’95 and regularly used it as a set opener, featuring it twice on the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. The sales did so well that not only was a run of black vinyl produced there was an additional run of exclusive red vinyl.
On the 10th anniversary of Scott’s tragic death, myself and Scott’s parents thought a fantastic way for people to remember him would be to release an up-to-date version in commemoration.
The new version was immediately signed by a brand new label: Northern Exposure Recordings and was featured as their debut release (NEXP001). Northern Exposure Recordings is a sister label of (Hooj Choons / Lost Language / Solaris Recordings etc). In addition to the digital release the track also received a special vinyl pressing and remixes from D Dub and Fletch. The D Dub Remix went on to be championed by John Digweed who, after hearing it played by Chloe Harris, went on to widely support it at gigs in 2007 including at: Space in Ibiza, SW4 in London and the Warehouse Project in Manchester where it was also featured on the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix (13 October 2007). The Desyfer & Fletch Remix received support from Nick Warren and Solarstone; and the Fletch Remix received support from Jaytech, Tom Morgan and James Grant.
A little bit about Sundogs: Sundogs were born in 2008 with our first production: ‘Fletch & Desyfer Pres. Sundogs – Primary Key‘ released on Brown Eyed Boyz Recordings (BEBR021). The track included remixes from Lea D and Prof and featured on Pete Tong’s Bedroom Bedlam Chart, finishing 3rd in the Fast Trax Show. Primary Key received great support from Jaytech, James Grant, Marcus Klay, Hisham Zahran, Tiernan O’Neil and featured on Trance Around The World with Above & Beyond, Anjunabeats Worldwide and Proton Radio. Sundogs also provided the remix duties for ‘Strata – Metamorphosis’, released on Canadian label Reticent Recordings, October 2008.
